Settlement at Wallendorf
IŽd been working with a hisoric museum in Scotland when I was offered a post at the Institute for ancient and early history in Kiel and moved over to Germany.
This was of course a wonderful job for an illustrator. In the summer months I travelled down to Wallendorf to work the whole day on-site, helping excavate this 2000 year old fortified village and actually finding some of the things I would later draw. The rest of the year was spent in Kiel working with the archeologists and students on its documentation.
This 3 year period tested my drawing and seeing skills to the absolute limit and gave me the chance to hold some beautiful objects in my hands and on paper.
